Hello!!!!

5:28 pm in Uncategorized by Lou Hickey

Hi Folks

It’s been a while! Apologies for the silence. Truth be told, I forgot I had a website! Ooops!

Things have been pretty quiet on the music front. I guess I needed to take a little step back. The past 3 years have been pretty crazy, and its been nice doing normal stuff, like spending time with family and friends, decorating my flat, and hanging out with my pet bunny rabbit Pes. I’m also getting married in September, so there have been lots of things to organise for that!

Its been hard getting the energy together to keep going. The Music Industry is tough! I just want to write songs and play gigs, but unfortunately its not that simple, and sometimes it is hard to keep going.

After a little break though, I am ready.

The album is finished and we are just looking into how we are going to release it. We also hope to do some dates in the UK before the end of the year.

Thank you for the messages of support. Its what keeps me going with all of this.

I do feel bad though when people ask us to play shows near them. Unfortunately we have no budget for any form of touring right now. Hopefully that will change. I’m really trying to make that change.

I hope you’re all well.

I promise to try and keep this more up to date!

‘Minutes, hours, days’ E.P. release and gig news

12:35 pm in Uncategorized, featured by admin

Hi! It has been a busy few weeks, so I apologies for the last minuteness of this blog!

The ‘Minutes, hours, days’ E.P. is being released on Monday 4th July 2011. This is a digital release only (i.e. i-tunes, amazon downloads). There will be no physical CD to purchase.
As the album release is still a little while off, I wanted to get something new out there asap and this was the best way to do it.
It was a really hard deciding what song went on the E.P. but I have gone with these four tracks – ‘Minutes, hours, days’, ‘Zombie Love’, ‘You!’ and ‘Tap Dance’.

To celebrate the release there will be a headline show at the O2 ABC2 in Glasgow on Sunday 3rd July.
Tickets are £7 and they are available through the O2 ABC Boxoffice, www.ticketweb.co.uk and Ticket Scotland Glasgow.
Support comes from Jonathan Carr and Scott Beaton.

I will also be playing a very late night set at Edinburgh’s famous Jazz Bar on Saturday 9th July. I should be on stage around 12.30am!

It would be great to see some friendly faces there!

Race for Life

Lou Hickey run’s Glasgow’s Race for life for Cancer Research

This is something very close to my heart, and I want to help in any way I can. So I have decided to run Glasgow’s race for life on Sunday 5th June with my sister and my niece.
I haven’t owned a pair of trainers since I was 16 (because I discovered high heels!), and I have asthma, so this race definitely poses a few challenges for me. But it is for such an incredible cause, and its a small part I can play in helping.
Any donation you can spare will be greatly appreciated.

“Minutes, Hours, Days” Video

12:39 pm in featured by admin

So we just finished up filming the video for ‘Minutes, hours, days’ with Shootback productions.
Its taken a little longer than planned, as we wanted to wait to get the perfect venue.
The first part of the video was shot at the O2 Academy in Glasgow. We all brought lots of bits and pieces to make the stage a little more homely. Gregg actually brought his side board!
I also had a rather nice little case/cover made for my keyboard by the wonderful Joe Warner, who does all the props for Club Noir.

The second part of the shoot was filmed at the Hippodrome in Bo’ness. What a gorgeous venue! It was love at first sight!
I think I had to sing the track about 30 times, but I’m sure the final outcome will be worth it.

The video is now in the editing stages, and as soon as it is ready, we will be making it available for you all to download first, a few weeks before it will go online.
This track will also be the first single from the album. Im planning to release it myself so we can get it out around May/June time, and there will be a b-side or two with it.

Again I can only apologise for the delay with the album. This is all out of my hands, but Im hoping the single will keep you sweet!

Love
Lou
